With the help of Bill Clifford I got a summer job with Detroit Steel as a
general laborer.
What was intend to be a summer job turned into a 30 year career.
Attended night school
at O.U. Portsmouth branch and later at U. of Dayton. Career with DSC
went from laborer
to mail-room, - purchasing, - inside sales, - outside sales, - Ass't Dist.
Mgr,. Dist. Mgr. to
General Sales Manager. Retired in 1985 after 30 years. Moved to
Florida and started REO
& Assoc. - Steel Sales Rep firm - covering Southeast and Puerto Rico.
Married Nancy Cox in 1956 - have 4 children - Robert, Micheal, Patric and
Megan. Have 6
grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Joined Naval Reserve while in High School - served 10 yrs. Petty Officer - Storekeeper.
Have always loved being in or on the water - have owned several boats from
small run -
abouts to larger sail and power boats. Have enjoyed many cruises by both
sail and power.
Travels included trips to Hilton Head, Gulf of Mexico, Florida Keys, St.
Johns River, Bahama
Islands and Abaco Islands. Have been a member of the Smyrna Yacht Club
since 1985 -
having served every office from Dock master to Commodore to President of Blue
Gavel.
